At 7:06 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched with Meadville Ambulance for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment and injury on Cochranton Road near Wilson Chutes Road. On arrival on scene, Chief Brad Johnston confirmed entrapment and requested a rescue engine from Meadville Central. He also reported multiple vehicles with an apparent head-on collision, and asked for Cochranton to assist with traffic control on Cochranton Road. Engines 28-12, 28-13, and 28-11 responded. Personnel from West Mead 1, Meadville Central, and Meadville Ambulance stabilized the entrapped driver, removed the driver and passenger side doors to gain access, and completed extrication by 7:33 AM. Cochranton’s mini-pumper 4-23 shut down US 322 westbound at Schreck Road, and 28-11 shut down US 322 eastbound at Wilson Chutes Road until police completed their investigation. The three vehicles involved in the accident were removed by Leonard’s Auto Service, and Cochranton Road was re-opened to traffic by 8:30 AM.

West Mead Police, West Mead Township Road Department, and Pennsylvania State Police also assisted on scene.
