At 6:26 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched on a second alarm to assist Meadville Central with a working structure fire on Columbia Avenue. As Department 28 was responding, radio traffic reported all occupants were safely out of the two-story single family dwelling. Engines 12, 13, and 11 responded to the scene and were assigned truck company operations on arrival. Department 28 successfully vented the roof on the Bravo and Charlie sides before an evacuation order was given. 28 personnel helped with exterior fire attack and then assisted with overhaul and clean-up when crews were again deployed inside the structure. All 28 units returned to service by 10:20 PM.

Other departments dispatched to the scene included Meadville Ambulance, Vernon Township, West Mead #2, Saegertown, and Vernon Central. Cochranton, East Mead, Vernon Township, and Saegertown were on standby at Meadville Central during the incident.
