At 11:36 AM West Mead 1 was dispatched with other volunteer fire companies to assist Meadville Central with a working structure fire on Brawley Ave. We responded to the incident involving a 1 1/2-story wood-frame residence with flames visible from an attached garage. On arrival the 28 crew was assigned to search and assist with fire suppression. Searches of the first floor and basement were negative, but a dog was located on the second floor and removed from the structure, where it was given oxygen and medical attention. A second dog was located inside the home and given to a resident. West Mead 1 personnel also assisted with accountability and door control, command, overhaul, roof ventilation, and cleanup.

Other companies on scene included West Mead 2, Vernon Central, Saegertown, and Meadville Ambulance.

The rescued dog was reportedly doing well and expected to be released from the veterinarian shortly.
