Chimney Fire Assist to Cochranton
At 10:58 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched for one engine to assist Cochranton with a chimney fire on Lower Road in Mercer County. Engine 28-12 responded with a full crew to the single-story log home, where Cochranton and Utica fire departments had extinguished the fire and cleared the chimney.
Meadville Public Library Fire
At 5:07 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched with Vernon Central and Saegertown to assist Meadville Central and West Mead #2 with a fire at Meadville Public Library.
Public Service Detail, Assist to Vernon Township
On January 13 starting at 1:51 PM, West Mead #1 provided assistance to Vernon Township Dept. 27 to help a few of the many residents in areas affected by the flood waters of French Creek. Engine 28-11 responded with 5 personnel to Shippen Street and began investigating three homes with flooded basements.
Mulch Fire on Franklin Pike, Assist to Cochranton
At 4:48 PM on January 10 West Mead #1 was dispatched with other mutual aid departments to assist Cochranton with a large pile of mulch on fire along Franklin Pike. Engines 28-12 and 28-13 responded to the incident as requested, one engine to the scene and one to stand by at Cochranton's station.
Winter Water Supply Drill
West Mead #1 started a new year of training with about 15 firefighters practicing water supply in cold weather conditions, cutting access holes in pond ice and setting up a draft with a portable pump.
Oakgrove Avenue Structure Fire
At 3:41 PM on January 1, West Mead Fire Departments #1 and #2 were dispatched for a single-family dwelling structure fire on Oakgrove Avenue in West Mead #1’s first due, resulting in a second-alarm fire that utilized a tanker task force.
