Just before midnight West Mead 1 was dispatched with Saegertown, Vernon Central, and West Mead 2 to assist Meadville Central and Meadville Ambulance with a working structure fire in a multi-family residence on North Street. Engines 28-13 and 28-12 responded to the 2 1/2-story building, where Meadville firefighters had already gotten a good knockdown on the blaze. One 28 crew advanced a handline to the attic and helped with overhaul on the second and third floors, while other 28 firefighters assisted with exterior overhaul. The fire apparently began on the porch with some extension into the structure on each level.
No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
All 28 units returned to service by 2:10 AM.
