Structure fire calls, including assists to mutual aid departments
At 4:39 AM West Mead 1 was dispatched with other mutual aid departments to assist Vernon Township with a reported structure fire after an explosion at Advanced Cast Products on Mill Street. Engine 28-12 responded to the scene, a three-story brick and steel industrial building with visible smoke in the area.
At 9:00 AM, West Mead 1 was dispatched to assist Cochranton with a structure fire on Snake Rd in French Creek Township. The initial request for an engine to stand by at Dept 4 was upgraded to a full assist as reports from the scene indicated fire through the roof and on both floors.
At 9:52 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched with West Mead #2 and Hayfield to assist Vernon Township and Vernon Central with a chimney fire on Cussewago Road.
At 10:58 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched for one engine to assist Cochranton with a chimney fire on Lower Road in Mercer County. Engine 28-12 responded with a full crew to the single-story log home, where Cochranton and Utica fire departments had extinguished the fire and cleared the chimney.
At 5:07 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched with Vernon Central and Saegertown to assist Meadville Central and West Mead #2 with a fire at Meadville Public Library.
At 3:41 PM on January 1, West Mead Fire Departments #1 and #2 were dispatched for a single-family dwelling structure fire on Oakgrove Avenue in West Mead #1’s first due, resulting in a second-alarm fire that utilized a tanker task force.
At 7:22 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched to assist Cochranton with a commercial structure fire at Greer's Beer Distribution, the scene of a working fire earlier in the week.
At 6:48 PM West Mead #1 was requested to assist Meadville Central with a residential structure fire on State Street.
At 6:56 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched with other area departments to assist Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department with a working commercial structure fire along US 322.
On November 20 West Mead #1 was dispatched at 8:54 PM to assist Meadville Department 16 for a working fire on the roof of Channellock building 1. The incident was eventually upgraded to a second alarm, bringing additional resources from West Mead #2, Vernon Central, and Saegertown to assist.
