2 Structure Fires - Chimney Fire on Franklin Pike (West Mead Township) and Structure Fire Assist to East Mead Township - April 19, 2010 (Posted -4-20-10)

West Mead #1 was dispatched for a structure fire (chimney fire) on the Franklin Pike at 06:03 a.m.  West Mead #1 responded along with automatic aide from West Mead #2 and Meadville Ambulance.  As units were clearing the Franklin Pike call, West Mead #2 responded to assist East Mead.  West Mead #1 responded with one engine.

Structure Fire - Assist to Cochranton - March 26, 2010 (Posted 3-29-10)

Shortly after 8:00 Cochranton Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire on the Franklin Pike.  West Mead #1 was dispatched for automatic aid along with East Mead and Utica (Venango County).  West Mead #1 wishes to thank Cochranton Fire Ambulance and Fire for its recent donation to our departments medical program.  This contribution is very appreciated.  Thank you.

Fire Department Review – January 13th – 31st (Posted 1-22-10)

The past 2 ½ weeks have been busy for the members of West Mead #1.  The department has responded to a total of 20 incidents.  12 EMS, 5 Assists, 1 Carbon Monoxide Incident, 1 SCUBA, and 1 incident of wires down in the roadway.  During this time we have also conducted training on 3 days, 1-19 West Mead #1 had 19 members attend in house training on Structure/Chimney Fire response, 1-23 4 members attended Ice Dive Training with the Scuba Team, and on 1-25 19 members participated in 3 separate training opportunities.  Please see separate updates for pictures and information regarding the 1-23 Ice Dive and the structure fire assist to East Mead.

Old 28-13 for Sale (Posted 1-22-10)

West Mead 1 has listed 28-13 for sale in preparation for the delivery of our 2010 Sutphen Rescue Engine.  Check out the details and additional photos of it by clicking here or by clicking on the picture.

New 28-13 Specs and Updates (Posted 1-20-10)

West Mead #1 has formally signed the contract for our new fire engine.  The rescue style pumper will be manufactured by Sutphen Corporation located in Columbus, Ohio.  The new engine will be equipped and organized very similar to our 2001 Sutphen Rescue Engine.  The new engine committee will be traveling to Columbus on March 5^th for the Engineering/Pre Construction meeting.  This new unit will represent our third Sutphen Fire Apparatus and is expected to serve the residents of West Mead Twp. for the 25 to 30 years.
