2 Structure Fires - Chimney Fire on Franklin Pike and Working Structure Fire Assist to East Mead 4.19.10

April 19th, 2010

West Mead #1 was dispatched for a structure fire (chimney fire) on the Franklin Pike at 06:03 a.m.  West Mead #1 responded along with automatic aide from West Mead #2 and Meadville Ambulance.  28-11 and 28-13 arrived on scene and began working in the basement of the structure to clean out the wood burner.  Once on scene the crew from 28-12 reported to the first floor to check for extension and begin ventilating the structure.  29-1 arrived on scene and set a ladder to inspect the chimney, the crew from 29-1 also assisted the basement crew with removal of burning material from the wood burner.  The fire was confined to the chimney.  While operating on the Franklin Pike, West Mead #2 was dispatched to assist East Mead with a working structure (trailer) fire on State Route 27.  29-1 cleared the scene and responded to the East Mead incident.  West Mead #1 cleared the Franklin Pike incident shortly afterward.  At this time East Mead requested one engine from West Mead #1 to report to the trailer fire.  West Mead responded

28-12 with a crew of 6 and assisted East Mead with overhaul.  28-12 returned to service at 10:10 a.m.
